Adopt-a-Doe

The Adopt-a-Doe project by DNA Finders proposes a method to involve people in our mission to identify unidentified human remains within New York.

Participants will adopt-a-doe from the spreadsheet of unidentified human remains that are applicable to identification via genetic genealogy.

For their respective doe, participants will reach out to the local law enforcement regarding updates and to advocate for genetic genealogy.

The goal is for participants to place a sense of community pressure to solve their cold cases, especially those regarding unidentified remains.

In some cases, a participant may wish to sponsor a specific doe by paying for the necessary laboratory testings on a sample to undergo the process of genetic genealogy.

The approximate price of a biological test on unidentified human remains is approximately $3,000.
